David Freschman Award Winners

David Freschman, who the award was named for, died of pancreatic cancer in March 2015. He founded conferences to introduce entrepreneurs to investors-Early Stage East and Fashionvest, and Delaware’s first venture capital fund, Innovation Capital Advisors. David, an accounting graduate from the University of Delaware, was a husband and father of two, also provided due diligence support for the most popular television show to invest in early stage companies, Shark Tank.

2019-John Moore

John Moore started the Philadelphia Chapter of Investors Circle and is also a Managing Partner of Robin Hood Venture. He set higher expectations for deal quality and investment and helped the IC team develop systems to support and connect local networks as they audaciously grew from one to six local networks in three years.


2018-Richard Anthony

Richard Anthony, serial entrepreneur and founder of The Entrepreneurs Network. He was Chairman/CEO of the Alexander Consulting Group’s U.S. consulting unit.


2017-Ellen Weber

Ellen Weber, Assistant Professor in the Strategic Management department at Temple University. She serves as the Executive Director of Temple University’s Innovation and Entrepreneurship Institute, Executive Director of Robin Hood Ventures, Mid-Atlantic Diamond Ventures.


2016-Steve Goodman

Steve Goodman, a senior partner at Morgan Lewis, was the dean of entrepreneurial lawyers in the Philadelphia region. He clerked for clerked for US Supreme Court Justice William J. Brennan Jr and was a renown jazz pianist.


2015-Bernie Rudnick

Bernie Rudnick, president/CEO of CapGen and one of the country’s premier health care investors and chief judge of the Angel Venture Fair, was the first recipient of the first annual David Freschman Award for Supporter of Entrepreneursihp.
